Job Description The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work at CMI’s customer site in Laredo, TX.
Key Job Functions
Maintains facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment; conducts minor repairs.
Performs semi‑skilled duties in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and grounds.
Assists maintenance mechanics, HVAC technicians, and other workers.
Repairs or replaces concrete floors, steps, sidewalks, paneling, and floor tiles.
Replaces broken windowpanes and window cranks.
Maintains light fixtures and motors; patches holes and cracks with joint compound.
Repairs or replaces sinks, faucets, water coolers, toilets, and urinals; paints structures.
Repairs or replaces stone pavers, hangs doors, installs door locks.
Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
Changes lights, performs drain maintenance, and houses mechanical spaces.
Moves furniture and equipment as required.
Provides event set‑ups support and assists other trades workers.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Practical knowledge in painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
Experience with replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; plaster or compound for minor repairs; repairing and replacing sinks, water coolers, toilets, and painting structures.
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, work in tight spaces, and on ladders.
Good customer service and communication skills.
Self‑starter with initiative; requires little direct supervision.
Must be able to pass a government background check.
