Job Description
Incumbent will perform tasks in the Mechanical trades (Plumbing, Steam fitting, HVAC, and Maintenance Millwright) in support of building maintenance/installation on the VT campus.
Required Qualifications
Verifiable journeyman-level experience in a large commercial or institutional setting in the mechanical installation, repair and maintenance practices
Virginia Journeyman’s Licenses in one or more skilled trades including plumbing and/or HVAC; be able to obtain a license within 11 months of hire date or obtain a reciprocal license from another jurisdiction within 6 months of the date of hire.
Significant experience installing, troubleshooting and repairing HVAC flow controls.
Working knowledge of a variety of technical documents such as blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, specification records, and operating and maintenance manuals
Record keeping experience such as processing work orders and/or tracking inventory
Able to perform routine Plumbing/Mechanical, HVAC or Millwright tasks
Ability to recognize and understand industry terminologies of multiple trades
Ability to use a computer and keep accurate and complete records
Ability to perform work with minimal margin of error and work independently with little or no supervision
Ability to communicate effectively, work as an effective team member, and must have the ability to receive and execute instructions from the immediate supervisor and/or lead worker
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a commercial, construction, or educational settings.
Formal education
Formal vocational education
Customer service oriented
A learning mindset
Advanced knowledge of steam systems installation and repair
Experience with an online work order system; for example, but not limited to: AiM (HokieServ)
Pay Band 3
Overtime Status Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime

Salary Information $48,000-$59,000
