Overview

The Urgent Care Physician provides prompt, high-quality medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and minor injuries. This role focuses on efficient patient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in a fast-paced urgent care environment, emphasizing patient safety, evidence-based practice, and excellent customer service. Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute illnesses and non-life-threatening injuries Perform medical procedures commonly seen in urgent care settings, including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, and foreign body removal Order, interpret, and review diagnostic tests such as laboratory studies, EKGs, and imaging (e.g., X-ray) Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines Provide patient education on diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care Triage and stabilize patients and refer to emergency services when higher levels of care are required Collaborate with nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and ancillary services Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record Adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory standards Participate in quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Completion of an accredited residency program (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics) Board eligible or board certified in an applicable specialty Active or eligible state medical license DEA registration or eligibility Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred Skills and Competencies

Strong clinical and procedural skills Ability to manage high patient volumes in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to patient-centered, efficient care Strong teamwork and adaptability Work Environment

Urgent care or walk-in clinic setting Variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays Minimal to no overnight call depending on practice model Requirements

MD/DO with board certification in Urgent Care, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine and an active Texas medical license. Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing quality patient care are essential.
