Job Overview
The Lead Medical Support Assistant serves in the VA Care in the Community (CITC) Department at the Nebraska-Western Iowa Healthcare System, Omaha, Nebraska. The Lead MSA provides expertise, guidance and direction and has responsibilities related to providing administrative support, coordination, and technical assistance in the planning, development, and maintenance of an effective, comprehensive and integrated Community Care Program at this Medical Center. Duties
Major duties include (but not limited to): ensuring compliance with department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Central Office Directives, resolving workplace issues identified in Community Care, submitting required reports in a timely manner, managing project and time management, improving processes, developing new or improved solutions to complex technical problems, collaborating with Community Care leadership, monitoring workload and coverage, reporting on employee performance and training needs, addressing process errors and disciplinary issues, and advising the supervisor of any backlog that may require additional manpower or overtime. Student Loan Repayment Program
This occupational series may be eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Repayment is limited to $40,000 annually, up to $100,000 in lifetime awards.
