Job Description Job Title:
Medical Assistant/Surgical Scheduler
Report To:
Director of Clinical Services and Physician
Job Summary:
Responsible for triage of all patients being seen by physicians.
Type of Supervision Received:
Direct supervision by Supervising RN
Type of Supervision Performed:
None
Duties and Responsibilities
Obtain vital signs, height and weight for clinic patients and place patient in clinic exam room.
Perform venipuncture as ordered, properly label all blood samples and submit to lab.
Clean and maintain exam rooms with the appropriate level of supplies and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Schedule surgical procedures, including authorization and follow up appointments.
Coordinate with OR schedules at various locations to ensure suite time and anesthesia.
Perform back‑office functions such as fax filing in the EMR, FMLA paperwork, and phone coverage as needed.
Assist in front desk area with patient check‑in, scheduling, and appointment verification.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent and certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited school.
