Cardiac Catheterization Technician Services
Major Duties
Scrub:
Assist physicians in planning, preparing, and executing invasive cardiovascular procedures; select and prepare catheters, supplies, and contrast agents; set up and maintain sterile fields; manipulate wires and catheters under fluoroscopy; perform heparinized saline prep and aseptic technique.
Monitor:
Operate digital subtraction angiographic system; capture and post‑process images; enter patient data; support real‑time image quality; record hemodynamic and ECG monitoring; assist in procedure assessment.
Circulator:
Retrieve and replay images; perform quality reviews; maintain and calibrate imaging equipment; manage patient transport and positioning; provide technical and administrative support; maintain safety protocols; assist with inventory and compliance with infection control and radiation safety.
Procedure Types Handled
Selective vessel and chamber pressure recording, blood sampling, and shunt detection
Contrast angiography (aortic, coronary, left ventricle, peripheral, pulmonary, renal)
Angioplasty and stent implantation, rotational atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound
Foreign body retrieval, pacemaker implantation, leadwire insertion, venous access device implantation, temporary pacing catheter insertion
Thermodilution catheter insertion, cardiac output measurement, intra‑aortic balloon catheter insertion
Endomyocardial biopsy, pericardiocentesis, drug response studies, electrophysiology studies, ablations, implantable cardiac defibrillators
Stress angiography, intracoronary anticoagulant and nitrate administration
Wound closure and dressing application, point‑of‑care blood tests, hemostasis management
Qualifications & Experience • Entry‑level or equivalent clinical certification in cardiovascular technology or related field. • Proficient with fluoroscopic imaging systems and interventional procedures. • Knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control, and radiation safety. • Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills.
