Material Handler As a Material Handler you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing, and storing hazardous and non‑hazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility under supervision.

Essential Functions & Requirements

Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies and maintaining safe practices.

Loads, unloads, and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with company and regulatory rules.

Operates a fork truck, Bob Cat with attachments, brooms, shovels, palletizers, tractor, ladders, and stairs.

Attaches appropriate labels and tags to products and packages.

Packs finished goods into correct packages, pails, and laces on designated pallets.

Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to storage tanks.

Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed.

Performs chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues.

Utilizes barcode system equipment to document inventory activities.

Reviews laboratory data for proper handling and disposal of materials.

Uses DOT knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping.

Uses equipment to remove samples for analysis and compatibility checks.

Operates a hydraulic bailer for cardboard and other materials.

Maintains a clean and safe operating area.

Applies knowledge of EPA, DOT, OSHA, and permit regulations.

Understands Heritage Coding and labeling systems to manage containers.

Safely uses PPE, including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection, and respirators.

Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.

Education

High‑school diploma or equivalent (required).

24/40 hour HAZWOPER Certification (preferred).

Experience

1+ years of related experience (required).

Competencies

Ability to develop a working knowledge of EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations, and general industry practices.

Team collaboration skills.

Ability to lift up to 75lbs in an outdoor environment during a 12‑hour shift.

Capacity to wear full PPE, including a respirator.

Regular and predictable attendance.
