Registered Nurse (RN) II is a licensed staff nurse, an experienced clinician, functioning at the Competent to Proficient stage of Benner's model. The role provides professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, conducts assessments, assists with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintains medical records. It delivers direct patient care efficiently, supporting patients with varied and complex needs. The RN II collaborates with physicians and interprofessional health team to facilitate coordinated, compassionate, efficient, quality care and desired outcomes.
The RN II demonstrates clinical competence using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, managing emergencies and advocating for patient/family rights. Leadership roles include participating or leading unit/shared governance initiatives, serving as charge nurse or preceptor to students/new employees, and contributing to service line/hospital-wide initiatives with management.

Qualifications
Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) in the Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations section.
Twelve months registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure – Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency).
BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA).
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA).
Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification (Preferred).
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Instructor (AHA) if Pediatric care (Preferred).
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates required skills and competencies through ongoing assessments and performance evaluations as defined in orientation and annual departmental competency checklists.
Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary to perform essential functions, especially impacting patient or employee safety.
