Direct Support Professional – Residential
Help adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities become self‑sufficient and self‑actualized in a residential setting. This entry‑level role provides structure, emotional support, and assists with behavior, hygiene, and medical appointments.
Responsibilities
Support residents in achieving personal goals
Provide structure and emotional support
Assist in resolving behavioral issues
Help with personal hygiene needs
Complete detailed, accurate documentation
Transport residents to medical appointments and recreation activities using Agency vehicles
Qualifications
Clean, valid NYS Driver’s license
High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred: experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population; will train
Cooking and light housekeeping may be required
Must obtain and maintain AMAP and SCIP certifications within six months of hire
Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide, or Companion is a plus
