Job Summary

Serve as the first point of contact for patrons entering the library, ensuring a welcoming and positive environment conducive to study and learning. Supervise circulation activities and provide basic reference assistance, collection maintenance, and oversight of student workers.

Responsibilities

Oversee Circulation Services – maintain desk functions, process reserves, manage patron accounts, receive fee monies, and enforce policy adherence. Supervise Student Workers – collaborate with financial aid to identify and recommend student workers, create schedules, train, approve timesheets, and evaluate performance. Collection Maintenance – supervise shelving, shelf‑reading, and other maintenance activities; assist with collection retrieval and inventory. Administrative Support – open and close the library, secure Classroom 127, perform routine clerical duties, compile statistical data, and submit circulation reports; maintain furniture and equipment in good order. Customer Service and Marketing – provide excellent service to library patrons, communicate effectively, locate materials, answer reference questions, advise policies, assist with printers and photocopiers; monitor public areas, create displays, bulletin boards, and signage, and support library events and activities.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong computer skills. Customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with automated library systems. Experience working in an academic library. Supervisory experience.
