Housekeeping Attendant, Full‑time – Navy Inn (26000010)

Job Summary: Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property including, but not limited to, cleaning guest rooms, interior public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces. Tasks include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, removing debris, trash handling, transporting clean and dirty linen, towels, and using hand and powered cleaning equipment as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas. Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, waxers, and polishers. Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture; washes walls, partitions, air vents, disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls and lavatories; washes and replaces window treatments and cleans ceiling fixtures. Changes light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds. Moves furniture to clean under and behind, uses a step stool to clean windows and window treatments, cabinet tops, mirrors, and picture frames. Cleans bathroom areas, kitchen areas, and washes and disinfects dishes and cookware.
Ensures proper functionality of luggage racks and availability of male/female hangers in closets. Keeps TVs, alarm clocks, and in‑room phones clean, properly programmed, and in working condition.
Places appropriate number of amenities in rooms and removes/replaces bed linens, inspects mattresses and pull‑out sofas. Moves/repositions beds upon guest checkout weekly or at guest request.
Greets and welcomes guests upon arrival, maintaining outstanding guest relations.
Ensures privacy and security for guests at all times.
Vacuums and mops corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios, and balconies; shampoos rugs, carpets, and polishes rails of stairways regularly. Completes scheduled carpet cleaning with heavy‑industrial equipment.
Performs deep cleaning as required by program standards, including pet‑friendly and ADA service‑animal rooms: defrosts refrigerators, cleans windows inside and out, shampoo/spot‑treats carpets and walls, and other tasks.
Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms.
Communicates status of cleaned rooms and spaces to the supervisor through daily assignments or the property management system.
Accomplishes minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and reports major repairs or replacements to the supervisor.
Cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots and outside passageways.
May be required to load/unload trucks or vans, assist with receipt and storage of vendor supplies, and move heavy items using hand trucks.
Manages pass keys and other keys assigned; returns all keys at the end of each shift.
Reports immediately to the supervisor any issues such as missing luggage, no‑service rooms, vacancies, extra guests, unauthorized pets, or other unusual circumstances.
Reports lost and found items to the housekeeping supervisor immediately with the room number or area where found.
May be responsible for setup, breakdown, and clean‑up of the complimentary self‑service breakfast bar and assisting with preparation, display, and replenishment of breakfast items. Ensures the area is returned to its original state by the end of breakfast hour. Requires applicable food‑handling certifications.
Completes all required safety and security training. Maintains a clean and safe environment, applying knowledge of blood‑borne pathogen safety measures to contaminated linens and personal care items, and follows all NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols during daily service activity.
Performs laundry operations at the facility.
May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as needed.
May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months and other certifications.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN OR HAVE LIVED IN THE U.S. FOR THREE YEARS
No experience required. High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Physical requirements: moderate physical effort moving furniture and using hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment.
