Duties & Responsibilities

Maintains an enthusiastic customer‑aware atmosphere, providing fast and friendly service.

Assists customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation guidance.

Answers and responds to incoming calls, resolves customer complaints, and reports to the Store Director as needed.

Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom, and one‑on‑one interaction.

Possesses specific knowledge of all department duties and assists with preparation, baking, decorating, and product display.

Implements proper, efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.

Maintains bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and inventory levels, ensuring sanitation and a safe work environment.

Ensures temperatures are maintained during preparation, display, and storage.

Assists with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees, ensuring adequate coverage and service levels.

Helps plan daily operations, monitors the production process according to company procedures, and pursues profitability.

Assists with preparing sales and inventory reports and physical inventory counts every four weeks.

Controls inventory to ensure sufficient quantity, quality, and freshness; stocks, rotates, and organizes product and handles cooler maintenance.

Understands opening and closing department procedures.

Builds displays, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product, and ensures departmental cleanliness.

Has working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Insures proper code dating for all department products.

Follows and maintains department standards.

Implements promotional and seasonal displays effectively.

Performs receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying orders with invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, rotating product, adhering to temperature and storage guidelines, and following proper packaging techniques; processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate records.

Accurately completes, maintains, and monitors daily log sheets, production charts, sales, and labor records.

Other Required Paperwork and Logs

Controls shrink and cost.
