Custodial Supervisor (2nd shift) - OFMD

* Serves as Team Leader for safety to discuss and provide proper PPE to custodial staff.* Conducts regular team meetings.* Canvass all areas daily, conducting spot checks for thoroughness and quality.* Supervises and trains custodial workers on such tasks as: general cleaning; stripping and waxing floors; buffing floors; extracting carpets; reporting progress to the manager.* Perform custodial inspections to ensure the quality of work in the assigned area.* Perform building inspections to ensure overall quality (cleanliness, cosmetics, repairs, etc.).* Compile a weekly list of supplies needed.* Order and distribute cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.* Ensure all keys and pagers are checked in and out in accordance with department procedures.* Learn and apply knowledge of the schedules, procedures, and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work.* Works with the supervisor on staffing, paperwork, scheduling issues, and monthly quality assurance inspections.* Communicate effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing.* Instruct assigned personnel on the proper execution of their responsibilities.* Assign and review the work of direct report custodial staff.* Work independently with little supervision.* Assist the manager with continuous training for current employees.* Act as a manager in the absence of a manager.* Attend leadership training courses as assigned.* Perform other duties as assigned.* Typically sitting at a desk or table* Typically standing or walking* Typically bending, crouching, and stooping* Typically lifting (25 lbs or less)* Occasional lifting (25 – 50 lbs)* Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement* Ability to move to on and off-campus locations* Some college.* Must be competent in cleaning techniques and all phases of floor care.* Have the ability to plan and organize activities and work cooperatively with people.* Follow safe working practices to ensure safety for themselves and others.* Be able to read and have the ability to determine the proper dilution of chemicals and other products.* Up to 22 days of vacation, 10 recognized holidays, and sick time.* Competitive health insurance packages with priority appointments and lower copays/coinsurance.* Take advantage of our free Metro transit U-Pass for eligible employees.* WashU provides eligible employees with a defined contribution (403(b)) Retirement Savings Plan, which combines employee contributions and university contributions starting at 7%.* WashU covers the cost of tuition for you and your family, including dependent undergraduate-level college tuition up to 100% at WashU and 40% elsewhere after seven years with us.Washington University in St. Louis' collective success is significantly attributed to the passion and outstanding efforts of our community.
