Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
As a material handler, you will be responsible for bending, stooping, lifting, and manipulating various materials including pipes, fittings, vents, valves, and insulation up to 50 lbs. You will deliver these materials to open spaces, confined spaces, and spaces at extreme heights onboard ships. This role requires physical endurance as you will be walking, climbing, crawling, bending, squatting, and standing for 8 hours a day in diverse work environments.
Responsibilities

Work in open, confined, and extreme height spaces.
Walk, climb, crawl, bend, squat, and stand for 8 hours per day.

Essential Skills
Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics.
Energetic and customer service-oriented.
Dependable and reliable.
Knowledge of material storage and picking systems.
Proficiency in computer skills, especially SAP and Warehouse Management Systems.
Experience in warehousing, logistics, and forklift operations.
Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Work Environment Located in Southeast Virginia, the shipyard stretches over 5 miles long and offers a variety of conditions. The environment can be very hot and muggy during the summer and cool during the winter. Work is performed on Navy vessels or in shop environments. Candidates must be flexible to work any shift, including 1st shift (7am-3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:30-11pm), and 3rd shift (11pm-7am).
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range is $21.36 - $27.31/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
