Position Overview The Department of Nanoscience at UNC Greensboro is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a Department of Defense‑funded project focused on understanding interfacial interactions between microbes and metal‑organic frameworks (MOFs). A candidate with expertise in materials science or nanoscience and hands‑on experience in electron microscopy is highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and maintain the high‑resolution transmission electron microscope (25%)

Characterize biohybrid materials and substrates using electron microscopy tools (25%)

Fabricate biohybrid devices and evaluate performance for charge capacitors and photovoltaic cells (30%)

Write scientific reports and prepare manuscripts (20%)

Additional tasks include driving project goals and meeting objectives on time, overseeing one undergraduate and one graduate student, and managing the lab.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Materials Science or related fields (biomolecular, chemical, biological sciences, nanoscale sciences, nanotechnology)

Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. with extensive hands‑on experience in electron microscopy (HR‑TEM and SEM)

Exposure to microbiology research and interfacing live microbes with abiotic substrates
