Responsibilities This is a 0.6 FTE position that can be structured as either a morning schedule or a combination of days. In the Social Worker and Therapist role, you will utilize both your case management and therapeutic skills to support our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Responsible to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the psychosocial services for patients of PrairieCare. The employee provides a comprehensive range of services to patients and their families, including case management and therapeutic services, and seeks to enhance the functioning of patients. This position may work with children, adolescents, and adults and serving patients with co‑occurring disorders.
As a social worker, have knowledge and understanding of Social Work practices and principles
Responsible for effective case psychosocial assessment and suicide risk assessment, discharge planning, and leading psychoeducational and/or therapeutic groups
Responsible for communicating with patients and families to keep them involved in treatment plan decisions
Coordinates care with outpatient providers upon admission and discharge
Contributes clinical perspective to the interdisciplinary team based on unique training in the area of family systems and/or social work theory
As a therapist, facilitates group, individual, and family therapy sessions
Will be available to provide coverage for other social workers/therapists when absent or as the need arises
Communicate clearly and effectively with clinical team members and Directors
May be assigned supervision responsibilities for those pursuing clinical licensure
Is oriented and educated in gender, cultural differences, and age appropriate care for the assigned department
Must be flexible to work at different sites within the PrairieCare metro locations
Qualifications
Requires a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related therapeutic field. Independent licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW) in the state of Minnesota required.
Non‑independently licensed candidate will be considered at an Associate level therapist. That role requires a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related therapeutic field. If your degree is in a closely related field and you are pursuing an LPCC, you must demonstrate that your education meets the coursework requirements of the license, either through your own comparison or an unofficial review with the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
Licensure: Candidates must be licensed or actively pursuing clinical licensure in the state of Minnesota. This includes receiving clinical supervision and counting clinical supervision hours.
Two years previous mental health experience strongly preferred. Experience in intensive psychiatric healthcare settings preferred.
Experience using electronic health records preferred.
Cultural responsiveness and bilingual language skills strongly preferred.
Ability to maintain required malpractice insurance.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Outlook and Word.
Able to effectively and efficiently communicate in written and verbal form.
Ability to smoothly and rapidly shift between dissimilar tasks.
Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations.
Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances.
After training, be able to manage disruptive and explosive patients.
Compensation Compensation for this role ranges from $29‑$38 per hour depending on licensure and experience.
