Streets Maintenance Worker/Heavy Equipment Operator

Key Responsibilities
Operate heavy machinery including loaders, tool cat, skid steer, backhoe, asphalt pavers, and graders in a safe and efficient manner. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure functionality and safety. Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and according to specifications. Projects include: Digging out damaged asphalt, patching potholes and street cuts. Street overlay and crack-seal operations, concrete repairs on curb, gutters and drainage structures, placing and finishing concrete and gravel. Plowing snow, sanding streets, and sweeping streets, gutters and sidewalks.
Actively plan for projects and take instructions from supervisors. Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures on the job site. Qualifications and Skills
Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator or a similar role, two years of experience is preferred. Valid license to operate City vehicles and heavy machinery is required. Must be able to obtain a CDL B license during employment, usually within six months. Strong understanding of operational and safety protocols. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in the public sector is preferred, or experience in construction or industrial settings. Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions. The role requires physical strength and stamina due to the manual nature of the work. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as required. Benefits
