General Summary: The Nuclear Med Tech performs nuclear medicine procedures, schedules procedures, and initiates new procedures. The Nuclear Medicine Tech must demonstrate thorough knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and image quality. This position must be able to communicate to patients the nature of the exam and relieve their anxiety. The Nuclear Med Tech must demonstrate an understanding of patient positioning, imaging technique, radiation safety, imaging equipment, infection control, and quality control techniques.

Main Responsibilities:

Orders all radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the RAM proper voltage, current and desired exposure tie as dictated by physician

Explains testing procedures to patient

Administers therapeutic amounts of radiopharmaceuticals

Monitors the patient’s condition before and after scan to ensure patient safety and comfort

Maintains records of receipt administration and disposal of Radiopharmaceuticals

Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety

Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

Performs quality control and maintains equipment and reports areas of concern to appropriate manager

Takes ownership of assignments; other duties as assigned or requested.

Education/Experience/Knowledge:

A graduate of an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine

At least 2 years of related experience preferred

Must function efficiently and pleasantly under pressure

Communicate effectively with different types of people

X-ray experience is preferred.

Working knowledge of computers, keyboarding, and various programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).

Flexible adaptability; willingness to accept change

Excellent mental, visual, and auditory attention to detail in all situations

Exceptional communication skills both written and oral

Commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork and use of evidence-based protocols
