Job Summary The Store Associate supports the current and future goals within GATE Stores by adhering to all procedures and programs outlined in the Operations Division of GATE. They participate in the daily operations of the store, including food service as an entire entity, and actively learn, train on all current and future programs. They continually monitor progress and ensure all employees uphold GATE standards.

Requirements

Must be of legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco products.

Must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a sufficient level to communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Must be detail‑oriented and have strong organizational skills.

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.

Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and reach (including overhead).

Must be able to work in varying and extreme temperatures.

Job Knowledge

Must possess basic reading, writing, and math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

Must be able to operate a personal computer.

Ability to understand and comply with company policies and procedures related to robberies and the safe handling of petroleum products.

Duties and Functions

Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with adherence to GATE attendance policy.

Arrive on time and maintain consistent punctuality.

Maintain proper attire: clean, crisp, and in good repair following GATE uniform and appearance standards.

Keep hair and personal grooming neat and in an acceptable style; final approval is at management discretion.

Attend all required training, safety courses, office, and departmental meetings.

Report safety hazards, follow up to ensure hazards are corrected, and assist in creating a safe work environment.

Adhere to federal, state, local, and company policies and regulations.

Use organizational skills to keep the store clean and well‑stocked.

Perform minor repair and maintenance of store equipment.

Operate all equipment as assigned each day.

Handle all payments following GATE policies.

Prioritize GATE customers to ensure continued patronage.

Greet customers and assist with product or service inquiries.

Address inquiries and resolve complaints, maintaining a positive interaction with customers.

Provide a friendly and efficient checkout experience.

Contribute to a supportive team environment.

Communicate accurately and positively with customers and staff.

Use problem‑solving and de‑escalation skills as needed.

Operate cash register, money order machine, electronic lottery, TACH II safes, credit card machines, gasoline console, and emergency gasoline shut‑off valve.

Perform store merchandising: stocking shelves, pricing, placing window banners, in‑store POS, and ensuring all products are coded correctly.

Perform any other duties assigned by the Store Manager.
