Job Description:
A Registered Nurse who assists in the assessment and care of patients undergoing gastroenterology procedures, including pre‑procedure, intra‑procedure and post‑procedure care. Assists in endoscopic procedures as well as other GI procedures to include liver biopsies, anorectal and esophageal manometry, 24‑hour pH, pill cam and paracentesis. Provides moderate sedation if needed. Follows established standards and practices under the direction of a gastroenterologist. Sets up equipment for procedures being performed, obtains and records patient data, assesses the patient during these procedures, and delivers therapy. The RN is required to be part of a team on call for emergency procedures after hours, weekends, and holidays. Initiates emergency interventions as appropriate and ensures proper care, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or ADN.
Current state of Missouri license as a Registered Nurse.
Current BCLS and ACLS certifications.
Ability to perform independently in critical situations.
Minimum of 2 years critical care or related experience (ICU, CCU, GI, PACU, or Emergency Department).
