Assistant Manager

Job Requirements and Duties As an Assistant Manager, you are responsible for everything that happens during your shift, including cost controls, inventory control, cash control, and customer relations. You must set the example, follow all policies and procedures, and expect the same from your crew.
Core Responsibilities
Staffing, paperwork, cost controls, cash control, food management, scheduling, store cleanliness, marketing, profitability.
Operate all equipment.
Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, walk‑in cooler.
Prepare product.
Receive and process telephone orders.
Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
Clean equipment and facility daily.
Communication Skills
Comprehend and give correct written instructions.
Communicate verbally with customers and co‑workers to process orders over the phone and in person.
Essential Functions / Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly (calculator may be used).
Make correct monetary change.
Verbal, written, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
Motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers for rapid and accurate movements.
Enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
Work Conditions
Varying and sometimes adverse weather when removing trash and performing outside tasks.
In‑store temperatures range from 36°F in the cooler to over 90°F in some areas.
Sudden temperature changes.
Fumes from food odors.
Exposure to cornmeal dust.
Cramped quarters including walk‑in cooler.
Hot surfaces/tools from oven up to 500°F.
Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
Sensing & Physical Requirements
Talking and hearing on telephone.
Near and mid‑range vision for most in‑store tasks.
Depth perception.
Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet strict quality control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, make judgments and decisions.
Physical Requirements
Standing
– Most tasks are performed from a standing position.
Walking
– For short distances for short durations.
Lifting
Bulk product deliveries (twice weekly or more) are unloaded using a hand truck; deliveries may be cases up to 50 lbs.
Cases are lifted from floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high.
Carrying
Large cans (~3 lbs 7 oz) carried from workstation to storage.
Pizza sauce (~30 lbs) carried from storage to front.
Trays of dough carried three at a time, approx 12 lbs per tray.
Pushing
Move trays on dollies; a stack of trays may require up to 7.5 lbs force.
Trays may also be pulled.
Climbing
– Infrequently navigate stairs or ladder to change signs or perform maintenance.
Stooping/Bending
Forward bending at waist at pizza assembly station; approx 30‑45 s repeated continuously.
Front counter and stocking tasks also involve forward bending.
Crouching/Squatting
– Occasionally for stocking and cleaning low areas.
Reaching
– Continuous up, down and forward.
Hand Tasks
Eye‑hand coordination essential; continuous hand use.
Shaping dough requires forceful use of forearms and wrists.
