Job Overview The Department of Marketing in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applications for a non‑tenure‑track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice in Marketing. The appointment is a three‑year term, renewable based on performance and departmental needs. The role focuses on teaching undergraduate and MBA courses in marketing, with emphasis on advertising, social media, and their connection to health and well‑being.

Responsibilities

Teach three to four courses per semester, with potential MBA courses.

Support student development through academic and career advising, mentoring, and student organization engagement.

Oversee student internships and project‑based learning experiences.

Contribute to course and curriculum development in digital marketing, communications, and well‑being.

Participate in outreach programs and collaborate with faculty and students across the college on curricular and co‑curricular initiatives.

Serve on departmental, college, or university committees as assigned.

Maintain strong professional industry engagement through executive education, consulting, and society involvement to enhance instructional relevance and student opportunities.

Required Qualifications

Completed an MBA, Master’s degree, or a Bachelor’s degree with substantial, progressive industry experience in Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field.

Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in a classroom setting, with willingness and ability to deliver in‑person instruction on the Blacksburg campus.

Strong commitment to building and maintaining relationships with industry partners and demonstrated interest in student engagement, mentoring, advising, and supporting co‑curricular or experiential learning opportunities.

Professional background appropriate for the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant recent professional experience in advertising, social media, digital marketing, sales, or other closely related areas.

Experience teaching at the university level or advising students in marketing‑related subjects, with expertise in social media strategy, digital marketing analytics, marketing communications, sales, and their impact on health and well‑being.

Evidence of collaboration with academic or professional stakeholders to support student learning and career development.

Compensation & Employment Details

Salary: Commensurate with Experience.

Hours per week: 40.

Appointment Type: Restricted.

Overtime Status: Exempt (not eligible for overtime).

Review Date: September 15, 2025.

Additional Requirements The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
