This position performs advanced carpentry work and oversees routine construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings and their components. The role ensures that facilities serving Wyoming’s elected officials, employees, customers, and the general public remain safe, secure, efficient, and well-maintained, while preserving their historical integrity and aesthetic quality.

Essential Functions The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.
Perform and/or assist with carpentry work, including construction, repair, and maintenance of state-owned and some leased facilities.
Maintain and repair interior building components such as floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, cubicles, furniture, and window coverings.
Maintain and repair exterior elements, including roofs, exterior walls, doors, windows, masonry/stone veneers, and concrete sidewalks or parking areas.
Service roof drainage systems, gutters, downspouts, flashing, and waterproofing/caulking materials.
Assist with installation, repair, and finish framing (wood/metal), gypsum board, fire tape, textures, and various ceiling systems.
Assist with installation, repair or maintenance of flooring types (carpet, wood, tile, vinyl) and door frames, hardware, jambs, casing, and weather stripping.
Construct and maintain fencing, gates, handrails, guardrails, scaffolding, and on-site work platforms.
Apply and understand proper use of paints, stains, and finishes for surfaces and furnishings.
Assist locksmiths with inspection, adjustment, and maintenance of locks, door hardware, and access components.
Maintain inventories of tools, materials, and supplies; clean and ensure safe use of tools and equipment.
Assist with custom carpentry services, including cabinetry, casework, shelving, furniture, picture frames, artwork displays, and office accessories.
Safely hang artwork, plaques, monitors, TVs, and various wall-mounted items.
Relocate furniture and office equipment; install partition walls and ensure ADA and fire-code compliance.
Perform demolition to access utilities; assist with emergency cleanup due to leaks, storms, or damage.
Occasionally, provide after-hours emergency repair services to minimize loss, including door/window repair, flood cleanup, and storm/vandalism response.
Knowledge
Knowledge of OSHA and ADA codes.
Knowledge of construction and maintenance methods and practices.
Knowledge of hardware installation, maintenance, and repair for doors, cabinets, restroom partitions, and various other hardware.
Knowledge of the quality and cost of materials.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Associate's Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Carpentry)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Carpentry)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
Physical Working Conditions
Must be able to drive vehicles and operate all tools and equipment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
Ability to work in tight, confined spaces.
Ability to work comfortably at a variety of heights.
Ability to walk great distances throughout the facility.
