Schedule Details/Additional Information: Variable to include nights and weekends

Pay Range: $16.00 - $24.00

Responsibilities

Receives 911 calls for emergency medical assistance, BLS Transport Services, State Wide Critical Incident Stress Network (CISN), Emergency Preparedness Team Activations, Hazardous Materials Response Team, Facility Diversions and area road closings.

Coordinates requests for medivac services and contacts Emergency Department physicians for ALS units requiring medical control.

Determines nature of emergency medical assistance requests.

Provides callers with pre‑arrival instructions, determines and assigns EMS or fire response to calls.

Participates with Emergency Preparedness Team Activations and provides coordination of Fire and EMS services; receives requests for Hazardous Materials Team Activation and relays information to the team and acts as a communication coordination centre between the hospital and Hazmat team.

Answers and carries out all related telephone and radio requests; maintains ongoing communication with area hospitals, EMS agencies and communication centres for availability of services and resources.

Prepares appropriate records of communication centre and dispatch activities.

Qualifications

Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institute.

Licences or Certifications Required: EMD Certificate, EMT, BCO, BCLS, IC‑100, NIMS‑700, Hazmat Awareness.

Experience Required: EMT and basic telecommunications training or emergency medical dispatch experience.
