Overview Facilitates the patient's access into the Radiology system by providing registration and check‑in services, including but not limited to securing accurate Joint Commission‑approved demographics, authorization of services, insurance information, completing signed radiology orders, entering and scheduling orders into EPIC, verifying demographics and financial data, and filing documents into OnBase. Ensures basic ICD‑9 coding is relevant to the diagnosis. Follows federal regulations (HIPAA, Medical Necessity) to maintain legal compliance. Protects the fiscal interest of the enterprise by checking medical necessity against carrier guidelines and assists with securing waivers (ABN) when required. Schedules, cancels, and reschedules appointments while maintaining confidentiality. Works closely with the Financial Specialist to assist in 'Point of Service' collections to satisfy patient obligations and increase reimbursement. Provides support for the Radiology Technologist and other clinical and clerical staff within the hospital system and community.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent (minimum) with continuing education beyond high school preferred.
Minimum two (2) years clerical or customer service experience, with at least one (1) year in a healthcare environment. A two‑year degree may substitute for one year of experience.
Professional customer service skills in person and via telephone, strong communication, and knowledge of PC/keyboard use required.
Familiarity with ICD‑10 and CPT codes, medical terminology, EPIC, Biscom, OnBase, insurance terms, and anatomy preferred.
Excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work under hectic and stressful conditions.
Ability to request and give information to clinics, physicians, patients, and staff; multi‑task, organize, prioritize, problem‑solve, and work in a team environment.
Must not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose. (No frequent driver).
