Description JOB OVERVIEW The Hazardous Material Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift and/or stand-up reach truck and/or box clamp and/or skid steer to move products, equipment, or materials as required in fulfilling customer requests. The Hazardous Material Operator will drive a gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, or elevating platform, to push, pull, lift, stack, or move products, equipment, or materials by performing the duties outlined in this job description.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely handle, package, and label hazardous materials in compliance with regulatory standards.

Operate machinery and equipment used for the processing and transportation of hazardous orders.

Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on handling equipment to ensure operational safety.

Monitor inventory levels of hazardous materials and update records accurately in the inventory management system.

Collaborate with the safety team to implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Prepare and complete all necessary documentation, including shipping manifests and safety data sheets, for hazardous materials.

Coordinate with logistics and transportation teams to schedule and track shipments of hazardous orders.

Ensure proper storage of hazardous materials in designated areas to prevent contamination or accidents.

Conduct risk assessments and report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to the supervisor.

Participate in training sessions and drills to stay updated on handling procedures and safety regulations.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

1-3 years of experience in using a forklift in loading and unloading product in a warehouse setting

PREFERRED EDUCATION

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Ability to maintain, service and operate warehouse machinery and equipment

Ability to effectively manage time while managing the demands of multiple tasks

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others in a close working environment or over a great distance via handheld radio ability to efficiently coordinate work and to work as a team with internal and external employees of the company

Ability to use a physical, digital time clock; to use a bar code scanner; to use a calculator; to use a handheld radio; to safely and efficiently drive a forklift and/or stand-up reach truck and/or box clamp and/or skid steer

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderate. Generally, well ventilated, and well lit. Warehouse team members may be required to wear protective clothing. Additionally, may operate heavy equipment and strict safety regulations may be required.

PHYSICAL EFFORT Work is physically strenuous and team members are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds. Work may require excessive bending or stooping. Team members may be required to climb ladders, use hand tools, and/or use heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Light duty options may be available.
