Join the Bulk Loader role at Lhoist. We are seeking a skilled loader to handle rail cars and trucks, troubleshoot equipment, and maintain high safety standards.
Position Summary This position is responsible for all aspects of loading rail cars and trucks and troubleshooting JWS with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities & Expectations
Maintain a smooth and efficient flow of truck and rail traffic.
Prior to loading, inspect truck trailers and railcars to ensure they are free from containment.
Distribute different product types into the appropriate trucks/rail cars and load the proper weight for each shipment.
Familiar with different silo product types.
Complete bill of lading for truck and rail shipments.
Inventory Control
Maintain accurate silo inventory measurements.
Training
Participate in company‑sponsored training and certification programs.
Train new employees on equipment related to the load‑out area.
Cross‑train in other areas as needed.
Troubleshoot and maintain variable‑speed drives.
Maintenance and Quality Control
Keep rail and truck scales clean.
Maintain a water‑free environment for rail pit and scales.
Make minor adjustments to load‑out related equipment.
Complete daily equipment check reports.
Assist daily in plant cleanup of production areas.
Safety
Be well‑versed in all safety aspects.
Comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations.
Complete and document workplace inspections promptly.
Perform work adhering to company and governmental safety rules, including lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
Operate heavy equipment—shuttle wagon, front‑end loader, forklift, bobcat, and tractor—safely.
Safe Quality Food (SQF)
Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with the FDA (CFR Title 21, Part 507).
Support Environmental Health and Safety and SQF initiatives and awareness programs.
Lead and promote a culture of safety and SQF among employees.
After SQF training, demonstrate understanding of safety, SQF performance, and food safety culture.
Complete periodic SQF training(s).
Participate actively in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF, and environmental compliance.
Attributes
Industrial background with strong troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of current environmental regulations related to the lime industry.
Basic mathematical computation ability.
Flexible to shift work, seven days a week, including holidays and schedule changes.
Phone available for call‑outs.
Effective decision‑making skills regarding safety.
Tolerance for working outside in severe weather, high temperatures, noise, and dust.
Physical Demands
Access all site areas, including heights up to 200 ft, confined spaces, ladders or stairs, and tunnels.
Lift over 50 lbs.
Open and close latches on shipping containers, truck and rail cars.
Read, write, and interpret work orders, bills of lading, safety rules, SOPs, maintenance instructions, and manuals.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, truck drivers, and dispatchers while multi‑tasking under pressure.
Operate computers and related controls.
Required Education High School Diploma or GED.
Required Experience Minimum three (3) years as a Bulk Loader or in a related position in an industrial or manufacturing industry.
