Regional Volunteer Services Officer – American Red Cross
American Red Cross is looking for a Regional Volunteer Services Officer (RVSO) in Phoenix, AZ. The RVSO will lead volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts, ensuring a strong, diverse, and engaged volunteer workforce that supports our humanitarian mission.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and execute strategies to advance volunteer services and sustain a robust volunteer pipeline.
Lead and inspire a team to deliver streamlined, flexible, and effective programs, systems, and processes.
Hire, train, coach, and evaluate volunteer and paid staff to build a well‑qualified team.
Design and monitor metrics, collect data, and present key performance indicators for continuous improvement.
Build strong relationships with internal teams, volunteers, and external partners to enhance volunteer engagement.
Collaborate with internal partners to strengthen the Red Cross brand and deliver a consistent, positive experience for volunteers.
Lead the implementation of projects and programs that advance volunteer engagement.
Manage budgets and coordinate grant‑related activities for contract‑funded programs.
Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience.
Management Experience: Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze problems, and implement solutions effectively.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including training and presentation abilities.
Proven ability to work independently while motivating a high‑performing team.
Preferred Qualifications
Digital fluency: Skilled in social media and emerging communication trends, including newsletters, event page design, and recruitment content strategies.
Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
Community Awareness: Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities, creatively address language barriers, and foster inclusive volunteer opportunities.
Experience with digital tools, social media platforms, and website content management.
Community awareness in Arizona and New Mexico.
Travel May involve travel.
Physical Requirements The job requires regular sitting, use of hands to handle or feel, talking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment will have moderate noise and may require sitting at a computer for extended periods.
