Licensed Clinical Social Worker NICU
Join Dignity Health as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This is a full‑time, entry‑level position located at the 392‑bed Dignity Health – California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles.
Job Summary and Responsibilities Perform social work assessments and interventions for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency department patients. Provide patient‑ and family‑centered care that values personal self‑determination, manage multiple priorities, and employ creative, compassionate, and ethical problem‑solving. Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary health team, developing comprehensive assessment and treatment plans that integrate medical, social, and resource issues. Collaborate with all healthcare team members to implement patient‑centered care plans and act on high‑risk situations through crisis intervention, brief counseling, financial resource referrals, family meetings, and discharge planning. Establish and maintain professional relationships with physicians, case managers, nursing staff, county agencies, community resources, patients, and families. Serve on hospital committees, develop and present in‑services to staff, and support quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
At least two years of clinical and/or medical social work experience.
Experience working in a NICU or Maternal Health setting.
Knowledge of contemporary behavioral and systems theories relevant to health care, including end‑of‑life dynamics, grief and bereavement counseling, substance abuse identification and interventions, and support for victims of abuse, neglect, or violence.
Familiarity with SSDI, SDI, and other governmental/county requirements and programs.
CCS licensure required after 90 days.
Thorough comprehension of OBRA and Title 22.
Excellent customer service, presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities; able to work independently with detail orientation in a fast‑paced environment.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (or in‑process) preferred in California.
Pay Range $49.49 – $68.16 per hour.
