The Division for Land-Grant Engagement at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker II at Jackson's Mill.

Work Hours: Various, rotating shifts
What you'll do Performs general maintenance, repairs, and alterations to all buildings including but not limited to basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, and mechanical.
Operates and maintains lawn and landscape equipment such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, chainsaws.
Coordinates work with Operations Manager to ensure timely repairs and efficient utilization of time and materials.
Maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition and reports needed repairs in a timely manner.
Supports fellow employees in completion of tasks as needed or directed by administration.
Ensures that proper safety procedures, equipment and personal protective equipment are utilized as required when performing duties.
Performs daily building checks.
Preps and cleans meeting spaces.
Sets up A/V and other equipment for groups as needed.
Maintains cleanliness of work area, grounds, and buildings.
Operates and maintains equipment needed for performance of duties including trucks, tractors, backhoe, skid steer, JLG, forklifts, and aerial man‑lifts.
Snow removal utilizing shovels, snow blowers, trucks and tractors.
Empties waste receptacles, picks up litter, transports waste/recycling to appropriate containers.
Reports identified maintenance/repairs needs and life/safety code issues to Operations Manager in a timely manner.
Operates a motor vehicle in the performance of duties; maintains vehicle cleanliness and basic maintenance items such as inspections, oil changes and fluid replacement.
Makes wise use of time and materials ensuring timely completion of tasks and utilization of materials.
Completes required reports in a timely manner.
Ensures guests have a positive experience at WVU Jackson's Mill.
Utilizes initiative and a pro‑active approach to identify opportunities to add value and make improvements.
Promotes cooperation and teamwork across all Jackson’s Mill departments by example.
Will be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays as facility schedule dictates and could be called out in response to emergency situations.
Attends required training.
Attends required staff meetings.
Other duties as may be assigned to support efficient operation of WVU Jackson's Mill.
Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Up to 18 months education beyond high school in related field (carpentry, equipment operation, building trades).
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in general grounds maintenance and landscaping.
Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Building trades/mechanical skills.
Equipment operator – tractor, aerial lifts, skid steer, backhoe, forklift.
General maintenance/construction skills.
Able to operate string trimmers, snow blowers, mowers, and hand tools.
Preferred Qualifications Vocational training in relevant field.
Requirements Valid driver's license.
