Job Overview This position is an essential member of the Finance team responsible for providing timely and accurate cost accounting and profitability analysis for the Charles City site. Responsibilities of the role include standard product costing and ensuring proper reporting of earnings for all commercial manufacturing products. Site Management and other departments rely on this position to provide timely, reliable and relevant cost information to help drive business decisions.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintain and update standard costs for production components and finished products, ensuring accuracy and alignment with site and corporate policies.
Analyze production variances for commercial products, assist with investigation of root causes, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Procurement) to review cost estimates and support commercial pricing decisions.
Perform the month‑end close of the SAP Production module. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to product costing during month‑end close, including adjustments and accruals.
Prepare monthly journal entries for Revenue and COGS adjustments following established company guidelines for ASC 606 recognition.
Assist in developing activity rates and updating standard product costs for annual budget and monthly forecasting processes.
Participate in financial forecasting by reviewing and updating planned Revenue and COGS for commercial products and contributing to profitability analysis.
Identify cost‑saving opportunities and evaluate their financial impact, escalating significant findings to senior team members.
Provide routine and ad hoc cost analysis reports to management, including variance explanations and profitability insights.
Perform other accounting tasks as assigned including assistance with direct cash forecast, compiling data to submit for refunds/rebates, and compiling customer financial information for setting credit limits.
Support compliance with GAAP and company policies, including proper cost recognition and documentation for audits.
Assist with internal and external audits, tax reporting, and corporate requests as needed.
All employees are required to adhere to DEA, EPA, FDA and cGMP regulations as they relate to the operation of the Company; and to adhere to all company safety rules and procedures. All employees are expected to report to work regularly and promptly. Other duties relating to departmental mission, not specifically detailed in this section may be assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
Solid understanding of GAAP accounting and Internal Controls requirements
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality work under strict timelines
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to perform detailed and complex numerical computations
Substantial experience with an enterprise software system such as SAP
Strong computer skills on a Microsoft platform and Office suite, including advanced Excel skills
Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or cost accounting role, or 5+ years of other accounting experience
