Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
Manages employees performing activities in multiple manufacturing disciplines
Develop and lead strategies to improve on-time delivery, cost efficiency, safety, quality, and productivity through continuous improvement initiatives.
Determine future staffing needs, develop team capabilities, and conduct performance reviews for subordinates.
Collaborate with various support functions on new or changing statements of work and communicate effectively with internal customers to expedite the fabrication of details and assemblies.
Apply process management and improvement techniques, using problem‑solving skills and analytical abilities to develop innovative and efficient solutions to fabrication challenges.
Facilitate work teams, provide training, and interface with internal organizations and external customers for project planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
Manages, develops and motivates employees
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Aerospace, Aviation, or Machining, including a manufacturing environment
5+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and/or informal leadership role
Prior executive leadership presentation experience and management-level experience reporting to Senior Leadership on department production status
Budgetary responsibility or experience reviewing associated department P&L, as well as experience reviewing, delivering, or monitoring production metrics
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and prior experience working with cross‑functional groups such as Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Machining
Flexibility to work on 2nd, 3rd, or alternative work week shifts
Preferred Skills
Bachelor's degree with 10 years of leadership experience in Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive, Industrial Manufacturing, Chemical Metallic Finishing/Processing, Assembly, or Machining
Prior SAP experience and military management or leadership experience
Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing production atmospheres, including supervising Union employees and aircraft maintenance or machining
Versatile manufacturing and machining experience
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $71,100 - $109,050
Kansas Tax Credit:
