position based in
Raleigh-Durham, NC. Responsibilities for the Staff Backend Software Engineer include:
Design, build, and maintain backend services in a TypeScript/Node.js environment with strong test coverage Develop and optimize RESTful APIs to support mobile and web platforms Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions Monitor and maintain system health, including debugging production issues and optimizing MongoDB performance Lead technical planning, define scope, and architect solutions balancing short-term needs with long-term scalability Champion engineering excellence through mentorship, code reviews, and evolving internal standards Participate in R&D efforts to evaluate new tools and technologies for future platform improvements Requirements for the Staff Backend Software Engineer include:
7+ years of backend development experience with
strong TypeScript expertise (critical) General understanding of Node.js stack and ability to debug complex issues Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases Familiarity with APM tools (Elastic, New Relic) Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Visual Studio (preferred) Cloud deployment experience (Render preferred) Ability to work autonomously, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance Experience with Go or Rust and Python are not required but nice to have Must be eligible to work in the United States Compensation for the Staff Backend Software Engineer:
$165,000–$190,000 annually Full comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and sick leave as required by law Flexible PTO and a 3-week company-wide holiday break from mid-December through New Year Hybrid flexibility with an established office presence in downtown Durham, NC Generous profit-sharing program and 100% employer-paid healthcare premiums for employees (80% for dependents) Keywords:
