Job Title:
Quality Inspector - Senior (Second Shift), Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Location:
El Segundo, CA This position supports the Quality team. The role may require working second shift depending on business needs. Internal job code: Quality Inspector Sr. Grade 24. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. Responsibilities
Initiating corrective actions with Manufacturing, ATLO, and Engineering teams. Maintain systems that assure the quality and traceability of incoming materials and final products. Interface and/or work closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost and other areas involved in controlling product quality. Monitor all manufacturing processes through audits and daily evaluations to ensure assembly and test operations comply with approved specifications and standards. Document discrepancies as they occur during manufacturing and testing operations. Independently perform verifications and document results clearly and precisely. Travel required to support operations identified by the program being supported. Support in other inspection areas as defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require. Develop, implement, and audit inspection and test plans, acceptance criteria, and in-process work instructions. Facilitate root cause analysis and resolution with manufacturing/production area DRs. Assist in conducting annual audits and systems surveys. Make recommendations to company leadership on process improvements for assigned programs or product areas. Demonstrate working knowledge and interface with MES systems (e.g., JIRA, Costpoint). Minimum Qualifications
5 years experience as a Quality Inspector in aerospace, military or equivalent high-reliability field. Experience with measuring instruments (scales, micrometers, calipers, digital multimeters, etc.). Advanced knowledge of AS9100 quality standards. Advanced knowledge of product manufacturing, assembly, test and inspection processes. Working knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements. Experience in performing inspections of aerospace components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and industry regulations. Participated in TRS (test readiness scrum) component environmental test meetings. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, harness wiring diagrams, and internal/external specifications. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate aerospace hardware and systems problems to technical professionals to initiate resolutions. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and independently with a strong work ethic, initiative, and team orientation. Applicants must pass a practical exam. This position requires the ability to apply for a TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications
5-8 years experience in a Quality Assurance role. Experience with avionics and electrical systems. Experience inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface mounted devices per NASA 8739 and/or IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 standards. Wire harness inspection experience per NASA-STD-8739 and/or IPC-A-620 standards. Experience with propulsion assembly inspections. Experience with assembly tooling and/or composites fabrication and structural assembly inspections. Ability to train other quality inspectors on processes and inspection methods. Experience in non-conformance reporting. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical data and quality procedures. Other requirements
