Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Sign-On for Eligible New Hires WORK LOCATION: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75231

WORK HOURS: Full time Nights, 7P-7A for 36 hours per week. Weekend and holiday requirements

CVICU Department Highlights:

The CVICU is a 30-bed intensive care unit that specializes in advanced Cardiac and Vascular surgical procedures.

Our ICU units are located in the Hamon Tower, the largest expansion in the hospital's history, which opened in 2009.

Our board-certified critical care physicians directly oversee patient care in the ICU throughout the day. Providers are on the unit 24 hours a day.

Critical care nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants - all trained in critical care medicine - work collaboratively to provide care in the ICU.

The staffing is dependent by acuity, normally a 2:1 ratio

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:

Diploma of Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required;

BSN preferred.

Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Req

One-year critical care nursing experience, or completion of an RN residency required

Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred - including open-heart surgery recovery, IABP, Impella, CRRT, and bedside ECMO management.

BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required AND

ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required (Expiration date greater than 3 months preferred)

CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days Required

HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

Assesses the patient

Plans the care of the patient

Intervenes as appropriate

Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions

Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.

Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information

Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
