Summary Provides protection of patients, caregivers, visitors, support personnel, tenants, property and all other assets within the facility boundaries of Children's of Alabama.

Other information

Ability to read, write and speak English.

Ability to operate metal detector to determine whether or not weapons are present (hearing).

Ability to check identification badges (distingush colors).

Ability to operate closed circuit TV, access control and and various alarm systems and prepare reports (keyboarding).

Ability to drive full size vehicle and meet hospital driver's record requirements.

Ability to sit, walk and stand for two hours (Stand post, conduct walking patrols).

Ability to climb four flights of steps in 2 minutes (assist in evacuations).

Ability to traverse 1 mile in twenty minutes (respond to alarms).

Ability to lift 70 pounds, apply physical force and engage in hands-on contact with individuals (to apply restraints and assist in emergency operations).

Ability to qualify departmental approved firearm on designated course.

Ability to work any hours and all days of the week.

Basic Keyboarding and Computer Skills (NOTE: Officers may be required to demonstrate any essential function at any time.).

Meet dress code requirements.

Grooming-clean shaven (no beard) to allow for proper wearing N 95 mask.

No visible tattoos.

Posts and assignments (listed by priority).

Dispatch – Monitors alarms and takes calls for services. Dispatches officers when needed. Enforces parking and access policies. Reports problems. Logs activities.

Emergency Room – Enforces weapons policy. Receives and logs lost property. Responds to calls in the Emergency Department when needed.

Main Street – Enforces visitation and weapons polices. Responds to calls in BRH. (May respond to call in Park Place and on 5th Ave Deck.)

McWane/ACC – Enforces visitation and weapons polices. Responds to calls in BRH and 7th Ave Deck.

Roamer/Responder – Responds to alarms and calls for services. Provides relief to officers on post assignments.

Roamer/Responder 2 – Responds to alarms and calls for services. Provides relief to officers on post assignments.

Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications

Nonessential: Crisis Prevention and Intervention Certification

Education with Equivalent Qualifications

Essential: High School Diploma Graduate or Equivalent

Experience with Equivalent Qualifications

Essential: 2 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Security
