What We’re Doing
Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation’s defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.
The Work As an Electrical Engineer you will support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering team’s design efforts working within an Agile environment. Your core tasks will include:
Developing and maintaining electrical drawings for multiple Ground Systems (GS) IPT hardware systems and their interfaces with facilities.
Performing analyses in accordance with industry and military standards.
Developing rack/system level drawings and maintaining them in the PLM system.
Evaluating hardware design efforts, scheduling, and planning required tasks.
Leading small teams and writing reports to support milestone reviews.
Participating actively in team meetings, demos, and documenting progress on dashboards.
Overseeing and coordinating electrical systems design.
Evaluating electrical systems, products, components, and applications by reviewing designs.
Ensuring product quality by reviewing electrical designs and validating current standards are applied.
Supporting delivery of Electrical Systems design Technical Data Packages, as‑built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.
Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues.
Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.
Identifying risks and opportunities associated with design factors and executing mitigation actions.
Developing and maturing system designs that meet Weapon System requirements, MIL‑STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.
Developing system level block diagrams, interconnect designs, and cable harness designs.
Supporting reviews of System Performance Specification, PIDS, HRS, and other artifacts via DOORS in a controlled classified area.

Basic Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering and minimum 5 years of related experience
U.S. Citizenship
Current active DoD Secret Security clearance
Ability to support an in-office / closed-area work environment full time
Ability to travel at least 10%
2 years of recent professional experience using a CAD Package such as Visio, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO, Siemens Capital Suites (Logic/Harness), or NX to develop technical drawings
Experience in two or more of the following areas: electrical/power system design, network communication system design, cable harness fabrication design, and performing electrical load analysis
Experience reviewing engineering specifications, electrical schematics and/or drawings with the ability to translate customer-driven requirements into specifications
Understanding and application of industry and company electrical engineering technical standards and procedures; demonstrated electrical component design experience and impact assessment / trade studies development
Experience evaluating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and military parts for compliance with requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Team, and PowerPoint
Desired Skills
Self-starter, team player, able to multi-task, produce quality work independently, and make excellent judgement
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Prior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP systems such as SAP
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing direction
Strong interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and succinctly
Recent experience leading a small project, including task and schedule planning to meet major milestones
Experience mentoring and cross-training junior engineers on analysis work and approvals
Recent experience generating engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, technical reports, test procedures, program procedures, and CDRLS
Experience in one or more of the following systems engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification & validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems
Experience with Visio or Siemens Capital Suites (Logic/Harness)
Experience with mission-critical and safety-critical systems, components, etc.
Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process)
Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware
Hands‑on mentality and passion for fast-paced environments
Experience using DOORS and/or CAMEO
IPC-620 Workmanship Standards certification
Experience with circuit card assembly design and schematic design tools
Experience with lab test equipment such as function generator, oscilloscope, multimeter, spectrum analyzers, etc.
Security+ certification
Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑1901A, MIL‑STD‑882, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑464, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab, TEMPEST 01‑13, NEC
Familiarity with circuit card, controls systems, and/or component design
Experience in short circuit analysis, bent pin analysis, and sneak circuit analysis
Experience with wireless point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint communication devices and systems
