We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and fully licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer to join our professional team. This vital role is responsible for providing respectful and professional funeral services and support to grieving families. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of funeral arrangements, perform expert embalming and preparation services, and ensure all processes comply with South Carolina state laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Family Services & Arrangements:

Initiate first calls, respond to inquiries, and compassionately guide families through the arrangement process.

Coordinate and arrange all service logistics, including visitations, funeral ceremonies (chapel, church, and graveside), and final disposition (burial or cremation).

Present service and merchandise options, explain financial terms, and complete all necessary contracts and legal documents (e.g., death certificates, permits) in a timely and accurate manner.

Provide exemplary customer service, ensuring the needs and wishes of client families are met with the highest level of professionalism and empathy.

Preparation & Embalming:

Perform all embalming duties to the highest professional standards in accordance with South Carolina regulations and family wishes.

Care for the deceased in a respectful manner, performing tasks such as dressing, casketing, cosmetizing, and styling hair to ensure a peaceful appearance for viewings.

Practice universal precautions and strictly adhere to all health and safety (OSHA) standards for handling human remains and hazardous chemicals.

Maintain the preparation room, equipment, and facilities in a clean, organized, and fully operational condition.

Logistics & Operations:

Perform removals/transfers of the deceased from place of death (residence, hospital, hospice) to the funeral home, requiring ability to lift 100+ pounds with assistance.

Supervise/assist at funeral services by driving funeral vehicles, ushering, setting up and removing equipment (chairs, flowers, etc.), and coordinating staff activities.

Ensure all regulatory requirements and chain-of-custody documentation are meticulously maintained.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Licensing:

Must possess a current and valid South Carolina Funeral Director License.

Must possess a current and valid South Carolina Embalmer License.

Experience:

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a licensed professional preferred

Skills:

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with grieving families, clergy, and all levels of staff.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.

Proficiency in funeral home management software and standard Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).

A valid driver's license with an insurable driving record is mandatory.

Punctual and respectful of sensitive timelines.

Relocation:
