Safety Engineer

is to lead the development, implementation, communication, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across the enterprise. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements, fosters a culture of safety, and maintains a safe work environment for all employees. Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety.

Oversee regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., storm water pollution prevention, permitting, toxic release inventory [TRI], and other mandated reports).

Partner with HR and the Director, Enterprise Risk to maintain OSHA logs and documentation from inspections.

Report key performance indicators (KPIs) and track leading and lagging indicators to measure program effectiveness.

Policy & Training Development

Develop and update safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and internal guidelines.

Design, implement, and track required personnel training in compliance with OSHA requirements.

Create and enhance training materials beyond minimum requirements to build safety awareness and empower employees to recognize and report unsafe acts and conditions.

Own and drive safety culture and communication across the enterprise to foster engagement and accountability.

Incident Management & Analysis

Review and support investigations of near misses and workplace injuries.

Recommend and implement corrective actions based on leading and lagging indicators.

Interpret accident trends, assess preventive programs, and train personnel on incident reporting processes.

Partner with HRBPs and Workers’ Compensation teams to manage post-injury follow-up and return-to-work procedures.

Audits, Inspections & Workplace Design

Conduct on-site audits, inspections, and assessments of operations, processes, and facilities.

Communicate findings and collaborate with teams to implement corrective actions.

Evaluate workplace design, processes, and equipment for safety considerations prior to implementation or modification.

Leadership & Collaboration

Provide oversight to the corporate Safety Committee and the enterprise-wide Safety Captain Program, supporting accountability, consistency, and alignment with company safety initiatives.

Collaborate with Safety Captains and the Director of Enterprise Risk to implement and sustain company-wide safety programs and initiatives, while fostering safety culture and communication across the organization.

Respond to and support emergency safety situations.

Keep leadership informed of key developments, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

What you will bring to the table

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred.

Minimum 3 years of experience in safety engineering or related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated passion and initiative for workplace safety, with the ability to influence others.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organizational levels.

Proficiency in hazard identification methods (e.g., machine guard audits, ergonomic assessments, job safety/hazard analysis [JSA/JHA]).

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Positive attitude and commitment to promoting a safe working environment.

Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team success.

Travel required: about 15%.

Competitive Pay: Earn $66,700 to $86,000 annually, with your exact compensation personalized based on your skills, experience, and location. We believe in rewarding top talent with pay that reflects your value.

Flexible Work Schedule: Our full-time, 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday, complemented by a hybrid work schedule that allows you to work both remotely and in the office.
