Electrical Engineer
to join our team and help us continue to provide thoughtful and efficient designs for our clients.
Requirements
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP building systems design for higher education, municipal, K‑12, and/or commercial facilities.
Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD required.
Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop electrical system designs from concept through construction.
Design lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and low‑voltage systems that meet project requirements and codes.
Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations in Revit or AutoCAD.
Perform load calculations, circuiting, panel schedules, and equipment sizing.
Conduct field investigations, site observations, and existing system assessments.
Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide construction administration support.
Participate in interdisciplinary coordination and quality control reviews to ensure accurate, high‑quality deliverables.
Assist in mentoring junior staff and sharing technical expertise across the team.
Skills
Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, lighting design, and fire alarm systems.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NEC, IES, NFPA, ASHRAE, etc.).
Ability to produce complete electrical design packages including plans, one‑lines, panel schedules, and details.
Experience with short‑circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies preferred.
Knowledge of renewable energy and sustainable design principles a plus.
