This role ensures strong fiscal stewardship, regulatory compliance, and accurate financial reporting in alignment with nonprofit and FQHC requirements. The Director will lead grant accounting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while managing and developing a high-performing finance team. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Management
- Provide strategic leadership for the accounting and finance functions, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
- Manage, mentor, and develop finance and accounting staff; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership and department heads to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and FQHC-specific reporting requirements.
- Prepare financial reports for internal leadership, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee grant accounting for federal, state, local, and private grants, including HRSA and other FQHC-related funding.
- Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant budgets, allowable costs, and reporting deadlines.
- Coordinate with program leaders to support grant budgeting, monitoring, and audits.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with leadership and department managers.
- Develop multi-year financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Coordinate and lead annual financial audits, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit), and other external reviews.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FQHC and nonprofit requirements.
- Oversee financial systems and accounting software; identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies.
- Support data integrity and accurate financial reporting across systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership/management responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience in nonprofit accounting, preferably within an FQHC or healthcare environment.
- Strong experience with grant accounting and compliance.
- Proven expertise in month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
- CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification.
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
