High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school or short-term courses in custodial work. 2. More than three years of verifiable experience in custodial field. 3. Minimum one year of verifiable supervisory experience (preferred). 4. Criminal background check required for hire. 5. Valid Colorado driver’s license. Job Goals: Responsible for custodial staff supervision in your assigned building as well as the overall cleanliness, sanitation, security, safety and maintenance of your assigned facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment. Manage custodial personnel schedules and time, custodial inventory and equipment, custodial expenditures, building repairs and maintenance, seasonal and special projects, building use and building systems and operations of your assigned facility. Essential Job Functions: 1. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with school administration, teachers, staff, and students. Work to maintain open communications with the maintenance/custodial department leadership team. Assist and utilize the maintenance, grounds, and warehouse teams in supporting the operational needs of the facility.. 2. Ensure the facility is opened and prepared for the arrival of students, staff, and visitors. Provide safe access to building daily, including ensuring snow and ice are removed, activating appropriate lighting, locking and unlocking specified entryways and doors, checking for inoperable doors and windows, and monitoring unauthorized entries. Coordinate with the department security staff to ensure appropriate door security schedules are set up for all building activities. 3. Ensure safety and functionality of cafeteria prior to use by setting up tables, chairs and trash receptacles. Check cafeteria throughout breakfast/lunch period to remove trash, sweep and/or mop up spills as needed. Support cleaning needs in cafeteria during all meal sessions. 4. Supervise, manage, train, schedule, verify timesheets and facilitate improved performance of Custodial staff. Enforce District and department safety and cleaning standards. Develop and ensure completion of daily, summer, seasonal and project cleaning. Ensure adequate custodial coverage for all shifts. Maintain accurate records of Custodial staff, supplies, inventory, expenditures and budget management. Order and inventory supplies. Maintain SDS sheets. 5. Perform cleaning and monitoring of the restrooms throughout the day to ensure health and safety standards are upheld and may clean an assigned area. Follow Universal Precautions and sanitation procedures when handling the cleanup of bodily fluid spills. Unclog plumbing and floor drains. Respond to service request to include but not limited to: restocking paper products, soap, and other requests as needed. 6. Perform and document building operation safety checks including daily inspection of building systems, boilers/HVAC, outside grounds and parking lot; weekly inspections of equipment and monthly inspection of building cleanliness, water softeners, fire extinguishers, AED’s, eye wash stations, and other building specific systems. 7. Perform minor repairs and building/facility modifications such as moving, repairing and assembling furniture; repairing custodial equipment, touch-up or cover-up painting; hanging teaching aides; participating in facility modification and construction projects; and initiating work order requests for repairs and projects. Organize maintenance requests, submit request and work with technician or contractor to ensure completion and satisfaction. Responsible for cleaning and ensuring proper functioning of stage and sound equipment. 8. Perform daily operational checks of lighting, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems. Perform and support as needed, monthly emergency response (evacuate, lockdown, shelter, secure) drills. Reset breakers and assess status of HVAC equipment. Report any HVAC concerns (temp hot/cold) to the maintenance team, support preventative maintenance including filter changes and monitoring indoor air quality; insuring all systems operate within district standard ranges. 9. Distribute supplies and school material. Support teacher and staff request for stored teaching supplies and moving of chairs, desk, tables, etc as needed. 10. First responder, during normal working hours, to all safety and security issues, hazards, adverse weather, alarms, fires, water breaks, mechanical and electrical failures, chemical spills and gas leaks. Will respond to events as needed outside of normal work hours. 11. Coordinate and assist with set-up, break-down and clean-up of school and community use activities. Review Tandem calendar events and check for scheduling conflicts, assign custodial coverage and respond to special requests. 12. Maintain outside grounds by performing, supporting, scheduling, and coordinating with the Grounds Team weed control, tree trimming, lawn mowing and edging, monitoring and reporting operation of sprinkler system; removing and/or reporting graffiti and vandalism; removing litter and emptying trash receptacles; monitor, identify and perform regular maintenance on outdoor equipment. Clearing playgrounds, sidewalks, and curbs of debris, snow, or other items. 13. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks based upon changing priorities and building needs. 14. Be willing and able to support staffing shortages and after-hours activities within your building; including special events or activities at other district locations including for short/long-term commitments which may be needed with little to no notice. 15. Be able and willing to return to your assigned building as required, after normal scheduled hours, to conduct checks on staff, security and emergency issues as needed or directed. 16. Responsible for participating in the interviewing and hiring process for custodial staff. Responsible for training of assigned employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, and coaching employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems within your assigned custodial team. 17. Perform other duties as assigned. Tools and Equipment: Operating knowledge and experience using personal lifts and ladders. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Operating knowledge of and experience with maintaining HVAC/plumbing system. Operating knowledge of custodial cleaning equipment, industrial and domestic winter and summer yard care equipment, digital testing equipment and hand and power tools. Salary: Building Supervisors are on the Classified Salary Schedule. $22.50 - $41.50 per hour. - FFC8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar school type settings. - Please understand that new hires tend to start out at the lower end of the salary range.
