Meet The Team You will join a dynamic engineering team, building AI/ML solutions and collaborating closely with various teams, including platform, security, release engineering, and support, to deliver the product. You will also contribute to ensuring the product's smooth operation.

Your Impact In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing applications based on generative large language models, such as GPT-4, Claude, Llama, and their derivatives, ensuring they meet business requirements. Your duties will include optimizing these generative AI applications for optimal performance, scalability, and reliability. You will engage in red teaming activities to validate the robustness and precision of the applications. Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning is expected, as is suggesting how new technologies might be implemented. Additionally, you will design and develop APIs to facilitate interactions with AI models. Addressing and resolving any issues that arise from AI applications will be an integral part of your responsibilities.

Collaborates with cross-functional teams to capture, preprocess, and load data for model training, and participates in model architecture discussions.

Develops, customizes, and fine-tunes machine learning models and their layers to address business needs and reduce complexity.

Conducts model training using predefined optimization techniques, including hyperparameter tuning, to ensure models align with problem statements.

Evaluates model performance using standard metrics and contributes to end-to-end automation and deployment efforts.

Writes high-quality, production-ready code for platform-based deployment, supports embedded engineering teams in deploying models, and ensures models meet business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion within the past 3 years, or current enrollment with expected completion within 12 months, of a Bachelors + 2 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree program + 0 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields include: Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related program.

Deep understanding of various machine learning algorithms, including supervised learning (classification, regression), unsupervised learning (clustering, dimensionality reduction), or semi-supervised learning.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient in deploying and scaling ML models using cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure.

Experienced with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and ML model monitoring tools.

Knowledgeable in big data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.

Skilled in Go/Java for backend development and integration with data science applications.

Demonstrated background in machine learning, generative AI, and time series analytics through coursework, research, publications, or industry experience, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready ML solutions.

Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is listed below. For locations not listed below, the recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.

U.S. employees are offered benefits, subject to Cisco’s plan eligibility rules, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods of time.

Salary Ranges

New York City Metro Area: $123,600.00 - $200,100.00

Non-Metro New York State & Washington State: $109,900.00 - $181,600.00

For quota-based sales roles on Cisco’s sales plan, the ranges provided in this posting include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.

Employees in Illinois, whether exempt or non-exempt, will participate in a unique time off program to meet local requirements.
