About 1X We build humanoid robots that work alongside people to solve labor shortages and create abundance.

The Role As a Senior Robotics Software Engineer on the Real-Time Software Team, you will develop core real‑time C++ systems and tools that integrate with hardware and sensors to ensure robot performance and safety. Your work will be key to transitioning 1X’s robots from R&D to large‑scale manufacturing and deployment.

You Will

Develop production‑grade, real‑time C++ software for robust control systems

Design efficient algorithms for state estimation

Create tools for system identification and precise calibration of actuators, transmissions, and full‑body kinematics

Integrate hardware components and evaluate sensors to ensure seamless functionality

Build hardware bring‑up and debugging tools

Develop software for robot health monitoring, visualization, and logging

Build and maintain APIs for other software components to command and control the robot

Must Have

3+ years of professional software engineering experience in a relevant robotics field

Proficiency in C++ and strong skills in other programming languages

Experience with Linux in hardware‑oriented products such as robots, drones, or IoT devices

Deep understanding of object‑oriented programming, real‑time programming, linear algebra, data structures, and algorithms

Familiarity with product development practices including release mechanisms, CI/CD workflows

Strong Linux system‑level knowledge including kernel tuning, process scheduling, and memory management (preferred)

Solid understanding of rigid body dynamics and numerical optimization techniques for real‑time systems (preferred)

Experience with embedded C for sensor and actuator interfacing (preferred)

Hands‑on experience with robotics hardware, personal robotics projects, or hardware tinkering (preferred)

Benefits & Compensation

Salary Range: $137,861 – $240,000 + Equity
