Overview:
Excellent Opportunity to join this dynamic Labor and Delivery Unit as an OB Surgical Tech. It is a 13 bed unit with 4 overflow antepartum rooms, 2 OR suites and a new 4 bed OB-ED.
We have 24/7 coverage by a Hospitalist, along with a great group of physicians. Any laboring mom or preterm mom greater than 20 weeks may be seen on this unit; along with postpartum moms needing to be readmitted. Our goal is to adhere to the AWHONN standards. We closely monitor staffing to patient census which means1:2 laboring patients, 1:1 active labor or C-section, 1:3 antepartum patients and 1:4 triage/OB-ED. We provide patient centered care as the entire health care team work together to care for mother and baby.
Responsibilities: Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse. Qualifications:
Education
H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required Work Experience
3 years Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program OR has oneyear previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist OR of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required Licenses and Certifications
BLS Required Additional Licenses and Certifications
