General Summary:
We are seeking a highly-skilled and self-driven Sr Director Engineering - Product Security Architecture to join our AI product development organization. This role is critical in ensuring the security of our AI platforms, SDKs, and data pipelines. You will work with AI hardware engineers, AI software engineers, and chipset security architects to ensure that our AI products meet the highest levels of security required by our customers. You will also work with AI software engineers to ensure that teams embed security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Daily work may include, but is not limited to, performing security risk analysis on AI features and products, ensuring that architecture design reviews meet appropriate security standards across the features in the product, designing and supporting the design of hardware and software security features, prioritizing internal efforts to meet software functional requirements, prioritizing internal efforts to harden attack surfaces and improve vulnerability protection, and supporting customers in meeting their security requirements.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of security architectures for Qualcomm’s AI products.
Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of software security features for Qualcomm’s AI products.
Lead the product security strategy for Qualcomm’s AI products, with a focus on ensuring that products meet customer requirements and driving a program of continuous improvement to achieve an industry-leading position.
Support customers on product security issues and assist them in meeting their security goals through a combination of effective architecture and targeted software feature development.
Drive the organization’s security effort to meet and exceed applicable global security standards, such as OCP SAFE and ISO 21434.
Mentor and develop high-performing security architecture and software teams.
Remain current with emergency threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory requirements relevant to Qualcomm’s AI products.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in development of device architectures and security features for devices in data center, automotive, and edge device contexts.
Strong understanding of security principles for AI products, including, but not limited to: Device integrity and authentication; Secure communication techniques between processes in a device; Secure communication techniques between devices in data center, automotive and edge device contexts; Virtualization and platform isolation techniques; OS security for embedded devices; Hardware and software access control techniques; Secure provisioning and secure debug techniques; Key management and applied cryptography.
Experience in performing risk and threat assessments as part of a formal security SDLC, such as ISO 21434.
Experience working with security architecture and development teams to create devices and software features that meet relevant standards’ bodies and industrial best practice requirements.
Excellent communication and cross functional collaboration skills.
History of leading cross-functional teams in a global organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in information security, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
Experience securing AI / ML platforms (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, MLflow).
Experience securing AI / ML models (both in terms of the confidentiality / integrity of the model and in terms of the robustness of the model output).
Experience with the threat landscape for AI devices, including devices in data center, automotive and edge device contexts.
Experience working with standards’ bodies and industry organizations to drive adoption of effective security standards.
Understanding of secure software development practices and cloud security requirements amongst major AI / ML vendors (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).
Understanding of secure software development practices and cloud security requirements amongst major automotive vendors (e.g. BMW).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 10+ years of Security Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 9+ years of Security Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Security Engineering or related work experience.
Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits $253,800.00 - $380,800.00
