Director of Pharmacy - Inpatient Rehabilitation

Wage scale: $160K - $200K per year

How you'll contribute Leads the hospital pharmacy department, overseeing daily operations, staffing, and clinical and regulatory performance. Establishes goals, policies, and procedures; ensures safe, effective, and compliant medication-use processes; partners with medical and nursing leadership on evidence-based formularies, guidelines, and medication safety; and drives continuous quality and performance improvement.
Essential Functions
Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the pharmacy, ensuring safe, timely, and compliant services.
Develop, implement, and maintain departmental goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Measure, assess, and improve organizational performance using data, audits, and quality metrics.
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JC), CMS/HCFA, CARF, and state regulations; monitor and close regulatory gaps.
Manage pharmacy team (hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling); coach, mentor, and resolve performance issues.
Coordinate and complete competency assessments and performance reviews within required timeframes.
Collaborate with physicians and clinicians to implement evidence-based guidelines, protocols, and formulary management for safe, cost-effective drug therapy.
Serve as a drug information resource for nurses, physicians, and pharmacists; disseminate current literature and guidance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information Oversees medication safety initiatives, adverse drug event review, and corrective action plans. Manages inventory, purchasing, automation/ADC systems, controlled substance accountability, and cost stewardship. Partners with quality, risk, and infection prevention on stewardship and regulatory readiness. Prepares reports and communicates outcomes to hospital leadership and committees.

Qualifications and requirements Education:
BS in Pharmacy required; PharmD and/or MBA/MS (or equivalent education/experience) preferred.
Licensure:
Current state pharmacist license required.
Experience:
Minimum five (5) years of hospital pharmacy experience desirable; demonstrated leadership and/or program management experience.
Competencies:
Regulatory compliance (JC, CMS/HCFA, CARF, state), performance improvement, guideline/protocol development, data analysis, team leadership, effective communication, and collaboration across disciplines.
