As a
Used Vehicle Disposition Director , you will play a critical role in driving the success of DGDG’s used car business by leading group‑wide used vehicle disposition and acquisition strategy and execution. This role reports directly to the VP of Sales.
What you’ll be working on:
Inventory Lifecycle Management:
Monitor the "days‑in‑stock" for all pre‑owned units; identify aged inventory and execute timely exit strategies to prevent depreciation losses, including directing inventory between stores
Wholesale & Auction Operations:
Manage the end‑to‑end process of sending vehicles to auction, including choosing the right platform, setting floor prices, and coordinating logistics/transportation
Vehicle Valuation & Appraisal:
Utilize market data and appraisal software to determine the current wholesale and retail value of trade‑ins and lease returns
Reconditioning Oversight:
Collaborate with the service department to assess reconditioning costs; decide if a vehicle’s potential retail margin justifies the repair investment or if it should be wholesaled "as‑is."
Group Vehicle Acquisition:
Run a small team that buys Auction and Private Party purchases for stores
Vendor & Partner Relations:
Build and maintain high‑level relationships with auction houses, independent wholesalers, and third‑party buyers to ensure the dealership receives top dollar for disposed units
Reporting & Analytics:
Track and report on wholesale profit/loss, turn rates, and auction performance to the General Manager or Ownership
What you need to bring to the table:
Minimum of
10 years of progressive experience
in the automotive industry, with at least
5 years focused on used vehicle operations
Demonstrated track record of performance, consistency, and results
Extensive hands‑on experience leading
vehicle disposition strategies , ideally at a multi‑rooftop or group level
Strong business and financial analytics skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Deep understanding of the used vehicle market
High attention to detail with strong problem‑solving capabilities
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, DMV Check required
Salary: $120,000‑$180,000/annually
*Pay is based on applicable experience and skills. This job is eligible for commissions based on individual sales metrics.
