A Day in the Life of our Regional Corporate Counsel
The Regional Corporate Counsel at First Onsite serves as a key legal partner across the business, addressing legal matters, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance. This role involves reviewing and negotiating contracts, managing outside counsel, supporting mergers and acquisitions, and providing guidance to internal teams. Additionally, the counsel develops and delivers legal education programs to equip the business with the knowledge to reduce liability and navigate complex legal issues.
Daily responsibilities include collaborating with various business functions, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, and providing timely legal advice on employment law, insurance claims, and safety matters. The role also involves partnering with Human Resources, Risk, and Safety departments, managing litigation matters with outside counsel, and ensuring alignment with overall legal department initiatives, serving as a regional authority on all legal matters.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver legal education programs to mitigate business risk and liability
Review, negotiate, and manage contracts, including retention and documentation
Support mergers, acquisitions, and legal integrations
Partner with and manage outside counsel for litigation and legal matters
Advise business units on legal, employment, insurance, and safety issues
Collaborate with HR on investigation and employment-related proceedings
Oversee legal software platforms and manage Key Legal Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Direct responses to subpoenas and other third‑party requests
Report to the Chief Legal Officer to align with departmental goals and initiatives
Travel as needed (up to 15%)
Experience & Education
5+ years practicing law in corporate, commercial, construction, or employment matters
5+ years drafting, reviewing, and analyzing commercial contracts
JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Knowledge of the property restoration and reconstruction industry preferred
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
