General Manager–Dispensary
Reports to: Regional Manager / Ownership
Location: The Gardens Dispensary

Job Summary The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, compliance, and profitability of a licensed medical marijuana dispensary in Ohio. This role ensures adherence to all state regulations under the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control Program (DCC), while fostering a productive, safe, and patient-centered environment. The General Manager leads a team of department leads, budtenders, and support staff to deliver exceptional service and maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily dispensary operations and ensure smooth workflow across all departments.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff including assistant managers, shift leads, and budtenders.
Develop schedules, manage labor costs, and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Lead team meetings and ongoing employee development programs.
Ensure onboarding and continued training and education are delivered.
Ensure all technology solutions are working and functioning as designed.
Liaise with inspectors, vendors, and state agencies during audits, visits, or inquiries.
Ensure full compliance with Ohio Administrative Code 3796 and all DCC rules.
Oversee patient verification, product dispensing, and accurate record-keeping through the MMCP registry and POS system.
Ensure inventory control, proper storage, and handling of all marijuana products.
Serve as a point of contact during inspections and ensure readiness for audits by the DCC.
Enforce safety and security protocols, including surveillance systems, access control, and incident reporting.
Ensure all employees are up to date on regulatory changes.
Ensure all required State and company sanctioned reports and audits are executed on time.
Manage store budgets, monitor sales and expenses, and drive profitability.
Oversee daily cash handling, deposits, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
Analyze sales reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to develop strategic plans for growth.
Ensure accurate product pricing and promotional compliance.
Uphold a patient-focused culture that ensures respectful, professional, and informative interactions.
Resolve customer issues promptly and effectively.
Support outreach and education efforts within the community, if applicable.
Qualifications
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must possess or be eligible for a Dispensary Employee License from the DCC.
3+ years of retail management experience required; cannabis experience preferred.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with compliance systems such as METRC and MMCP registry.
Ability to pass BCI/FBI background checks per DCC guidelines.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Capable of working evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
